Prominent state representatives and environmental agency directors explored the Blue River with us on October 18. With the river at its lowest point since 2011, the tour served as a stark reminder of the importance of managing our critical water resources wisely.
Oklahoma Senator Alvord, and Representatives Maynard, Lowe, and Eaves joined us, along with directors from the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality. We observed the natural beauty of the river, and examined critical ecological features of the Blue River and Little Blue Creek.
A Journey Through Blue River Heartland
We toured critical recharge features and wetlands, crucial for the health of our ecosystems. The river, flowing at its lowest since 2011, served as a reminder of the urgent need for continuing preservation of the Arbuckle-Simpson Aquifer, the source of the Blue River.
